Digital Forensics: Fundamentals and Awareness to Society against Cybercrime

Abstract

This study presents the brief about the digital forensics which is mainly required to the non-technical people for general knowledge. Through this, people will know the role and importance of Digital Forensics. The main purpose is to aware people against hacking, stealing their information, fake email, e-payment fraud, fake messages and call on social networking such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and other online apps available for chatting and entertainment purposes. Digital forensics focuses on the evidence gathering, data recovery, data examination and their analysis related to cybercrime. Cybercrime is any crime committed using computers and the internet. Cybercrime also includes data breaching which leads to security violation of user’s information without their concern. Today, the rate of cybercrime has increased expeditiously, and the laws are still not sufficient to control it. This shows the requirement of standard digital forensics laboratory. This laboratory will be responsible for implementing and monitoring the guidelines for digital forensics investigations, data integrity, and evidence persevering against civil or criminals.
