Abstract

This study paper discusses the principles of shell scripting and programming, and additionally explores numerous elements of shell programming. A shell script is a computer programme that runs on the Unix shell, a command line interpreter. Shell scripts come in a variety of dialects called scripting languages. Shell scripts can execute a variety of tasks including file manipulation, programme execution, and text output. A shell script can provide a convenient variant of a system command that applies unique environment settings, command parameters, or post-processing automatically while still acting as a fully functional Unix command key concepts such as programming in Bourne and C shell. It describes how to perform shell programming in the Borne and C shells.
